Helping you navigate life’s challenges.
Life rarely follows a straight path. Most journeys include unexpected turns, periods of uncertainty, and moments of both growth and strain. I offer a supportive, thoughtful counselling space tailored to you. Our work together is shaped around your unique needs, at a pace that feels right for you. Sessions are available in-person at my practice in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, as well as online via Zoom.
Please feel free to contact me for a free 15-minute online consultation to explore whether working together feels like the right fit.

“Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit.” – M. Scott Peck

As a wellness specialist, I provide a safe, confidential space where you can feel supported and heard.
Counselling services are R600.00 per 55-minute consultation, with a range of daytime, weekend, and evening appointments available.
Please note that this is a private, cash-based practice. I do not work with medical aid schemes as my work is not medical in nature, but rather focused on supporting emotional well-being, self-understanding, and quality of life.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
Individual counselling offers you a dedicated space to better understand what’s contributing to distress or difficulty in your daily life. It’s an encouraging space to reflect and explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, whether you’re working through current challenges, processing life events, or making sense of how past experiences continue to shape you. Together, we focus on understanding rather than fixing, allowing insight and change to emerge naturally.
“A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.” – Carl Rogers
You may relate if you:
- Feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained
- Experience emotions that feel intense, difficult to manage, or hard to make sense of
- Notice recurring patterns in your life or relationships
- Struggle with decision-making or self-trust
- Feel disconnected from yourself or others
- Are affected by past experiences in the present

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING
Close relationships can be deeply fulfilling, and also deeply challenging. Even couples with strong foundations can find themselves feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or caught in patterns that cause ongoing tension or hurt.
Relationship counselling offers a structured , supportive space to slow things down and look more closely at what’s happening between you. I work with couples to explore recurring themes, differences, emotional sensitivities, external pressures, and patterns of interaction that may be keeping you stuck.
With greater understanding, practical tools, and improved communication, couples can begin to relate to one another in ways that feel more constructive, compassionate, and connected.
“How well we communicate is determined not by how well we say things, but how well we understand.” – Andrew Grove.
You may relate if you:
- Feel misunderstood or struggle to communicate
- Experience ongoing conflict or emotional distance
- Keep having the same arguments without resolution
- Feel disconnected despite caring for each other
- Are navigating external pressures that strain your relationship
EMOTIONAL STRUGGLES
Counselling is a helpful resource for dealing with a range of issues that can negatively impact your life – persistent worries, difficult emotions and powerful feelings. Difficult emotions can be painful to feel and express and can be a heavy weight to bear alone. But these emotions gives you valuable information about what you care about and how you want to be treated. Counselling is a helpful way to sort through challenging emotions, even if your problems seem endless.
“Your emotions make you human. Even the unpleasant ones have a purpose. Don’t lock them away. If you ignore them, they just get angrier and louder.” – Sabaa Tahir

SENSE OF SELF & INNER CONFIDENCE
How you see yourself shapes your experience of life. Many people live with a harsh inner critic, persistent self-doubt, or a sense of never quite being enough. Early experiences often play a significant role in forming these beliefs, and they can quietly influence your relationships, choices, and expectations of yourself.
You might relate if you:
- Doubt yourself or feel “not good enough”
- Have a strong inner critic or high self-expectations
- Struggle to set boundaries or prioritise your needs
- Compare yourself negatively to others
- Feel disconnected from your own strengths
“I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time.” – Anna Freud
MEANING, DIRECTION & PERSONAL GROWTH
Counselling is not only for times of crisis. It can also be a space for reflection, exploration, and recalibration, especially when life feels busy, unclear, or disconnected from what matters to you. You may find yourself questioning your direction, values, or sense of purpose, or noticing that what once felt meaningful no longer does.
You might relate if you:
- Feel unfulfilled or unsure about your direction
- Sense that something needs to change, but don’t know what
- Feel disconnected from what matters to you
- Want space for reflection and personal growth
- Are seeking greater clarity and alighnment
“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” – Carl Rogers

NAVIGATING CHANGE & TRANSITIONS
Change is an inevitable part of life; whether it unfolds gradually or arrives suddenly and unexpectedly. Even positive transitions can be unsettling, while unexpected changes can feel disorientating and overwhelming.
You might relate if you:
- Are going through a significant life change
- Feel unsettled by uncertainty or unexpected events
- Are adjusting to a new phase of life
- Feel stuck or unsure about what comes next
- Want support while finding your footing again
“Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.” – Mary Shelley
Hello! I’m Hayley

I offer a thoughtful, confidential counselling space for individuals and couples who are seeking greater understanding, emotional clarity, or support through life’s challenges. My work is grounded in careful listening, respect, and a belief in the value of slowing down to make sense of experience. This approach is informed by a broad professional background in psychology, education, and the fine arts, and shapes the way I work with people: with curiosity, care, and attention to each person’s unique story.
My qualifications are BA-Psychology (Hons); BA-Psychology and English; ND-Fine Arts. I practice within a professional and ethical framework as a listed Specialist Wellness Counsellor (ASCHP reg. no. SWC22/1298). If you’d like to learn more about my professional registration and scope of practice, you can do so here: https://aschp.org.za/
My approach:
My approach to counselling is shaped by a belief that understanding emerges through careful attention rather than urgency. I offer a space where you are invited to slow down, reflect, and explore your feelings and experiences with curiosity and care. Central to my work is listening deeply to what is spoken, what feels difficult to name, and the meanings that sit beneath surface concerns. Together, we explore how past and present experiences influence the way you relate to yourself, others, and the challenges you are facing.
While many struggles are shared human experiences, no two people experience them in the same way. I work collaboratively, tailoring the counselling process to your individual or relational needs, and allowing the work to unfold at a pace that feels respectful and manageable. My practice is grounded in warmth, confidentiality, and non-judgement. I value integrity, respect, and emotional safety, and aim to create an environment where insight, self-compassion, and meaningful change can take shape.
“Psychological health is not merely the absence of symptoms; it is the positive presence of inner capacities and resources that allow people to live with a greater sense of freedom and possibility.” – Blass and Auerbach
